Introduction:
We all know that in our android device, Gallery app scans and displays all images and videos that are stored anywhere in our device. ranging from, screenshots, camera snaps to wallpapers and downloads pictures and videos. WhatsApp pictures and videos are automatically downloaded, scanned and displayed on Gallery. Sometimes, it even downloads pictures and videos and we might not even know about, and we know that anyone who asks for our phones immediately goes to the Gallery to check out pictures and videos.
Today, I will share a simple trick that silk help hide WhatsApp images and videos from our phone’s Gallery. To do this, there are 2 simple methods that can be used, which are;
Method 1:
1. launch your file manager app.
2. Navigate to your WhatsApp folder on your SD card, click on it to open, then open the “Media” folder.
3i. To hide your WhatsApp images, select the “WhatsApp Images” folder, and on the options, choose rename, then add a period (fullstop “.”) before it, ie “.WhatsApp Images”, without the quotes. After that, your WhatsApp images will be hidden from your phone’s Gallery.
3ii. To hide your WhatsApp videos, select the “WhatsApp videos” and repeat as in (i) above.
Note: To rename a folder using ES file explorer, long press the folder and some options will pop up, then select “rename”.
Method 2:
1. Repeat processes (1) and (2) above; ie you are now inside the “Media ” folder.
(2i) To hide your WhatsApp images, open the “WhatsApp Images ” folder, then create a file with name “.nomedia “ without the quotes, inside the WhatsApp images folder. This automatically hides your WhatsApp images.
(2ii) To hide your WhatsApp videos, open the “WhatsApp Videos “folder And repeat as in (2i) above.
To unhide them:
For method 1;
Open the WhatsApp folder, tap on your phone’s left button, click on “show hidden files “, the “.WhatsApp Images” and “.WhatsApp Videos” folders will appear. Just rename them to “WhatsApp Images” and “WhatsApp Videos” respectively and that’s all.
Note: If you’re using ES file Explorer, in WhatsApp folder, tap the little blue icon in the top left of your screen or tap your phone’s left button, scroll down and select “show hidden files “, then rename as said above.
For Method 2:
Just show hidden files as in method 1 above, and delete the “.nomedia” folder, that’s all.
