That is, they will be partakers of your data from anywhere in Nigeria even when you are not connected online or your sim is out of reach.
How to share your Glo data with other numbers
This feature is so cool in that you can share your data plan with your friends, family, acquaintances, etc. Also, if you cannot afford any of the data plans alone, you can pair with someone to subscribe and then share the data amongst yourselves. The person gets notified once you share your data with him or her.
To share data,
To add someone to share your data, just dial *127*01*the person’s Glo number# or send “Share [the person’s glo number]” to 127. E.g. *127*01*08053××××××# or send “Share 08053××××××” to 127.
To remove someone, just dial *127*02*the person’s glo number# or send “Remove [the person’s glo number]” to 127. E.g. *127*02*08053××××××# or send “Remove 08053××××××” to 127.
To display the list of numbers that share your data with you, dial *127*00# or send “List” to 127.
The problem with Glo data plan and why your Glo data plan gets exhausted fast
I have been subscribing to Glo data plans for close to 2 years now and have never had issues with its exhausting fast until lately. I once subscribed to an N1000 plan and was given 3GB worth of data but to my chagrin, it got exhausted within 2 days even when I didn’t browse anything.
I thought that my phone auto-updated itself and re-subscribed. The thing repeated itself, and I checked my data usage on my device only to find out that I didn’t use up to 500MB. When this happened, I decided to find out why. Do you know what really happened?
I found out some people were sharing my data subscription with me even when I never added them to my data sharing list!
How did this happen?
Maybe they added their numbers to my subscription list when they had access to my phone without informing me. Yes! That was what happened. I immediately removed their numbers and since then, my data subscription has been lasting.
This is the problem I have with Glo data subscription plan. Someone can add him or herself without letting the owner of the phone know. If Glo can add another authentication mechanism that would require a password or pin before adding someone to the list just as they have it on their airtime sharing service.
Not everyone will ever think of this as the cause of fast rate of their data exhaustion. If this is the thing you experience, then you might have to dial *127*00# to check if people have added their numbers without telling you and then remove them immediately.
Conclusion:
I hope that you have seen the reason why your data subscription finishes fast. It is also worthy of note that not only this can cause your data to finish fast. Watching of YouTube videos, automatic updates done by your device, or automatic update by your PC OS can also cause this. Check out this article to find out how to stop background apps from consuming data on your android smartphone.
If you download too much, or you are a heavy user, your data might get exhausted fast also.
